1 oz. Canadian Silver Maple Leaf
1 oz. Canadian Silver Maple Leaf
Issued yearly by the government of Canada, these Silver Maple Leaf Coins have been minted since 1988 by the RMC or the Royal Canadian Mint. Each of these coins usually contain 1 troy ounce of pure 99.99% silver, and come with a $5 face value, which is the highest when you compare it with other international silver bullion coins. One side of these coins always depict a Canadian maple leaf while the other side has an image of Queen Elizabeth II. The queen’s image on the coins was changed by the mint in 1990 and 2004. Some other annual variations were also noted in the past, prominent ones being privy marks, proof releases (1989), holographic enhancements, a colored maple leaf (having a design quite different from that of the regular maple leaf), and special issues like the one in 2009 commemorating the Winter Olympics, 2010.
