British Sovereign Gold Coin

Introduced for the first time in 1816, the British Sovereign Gold coins soon became the most extensively distributed world gold coins. These nickel-sized gold bullion coins were minted in Bombay, Pretoria, Melbourne, Sydney, Ottawa and Perth when the British Empire was at its peak.

One side of these coins depicts the reigning monarch (sovereign, from where the coins get their names) while the figure of St. George of Pestrucci killing the Dragon adorns the other side.
