Afghanistan Afghani

The afghani (AFN) is the official currency of Afghanistan. One afghani breaks down into 100 pul, traditionally, but the Afghan government has pulled the pul from circulation. The original afghani, which was pulled in 2003 and replaced with the new afghani, broke down into 20 amani. In a display of the lack of monetary policy influences in the country, the value of the afghani was influenced entirely by outside market forces. The new afghani has been slow to introduce and accept in the country, due to the continued uncertainty war has brought to the region.
